Soccer Masters TeamRank Update: Girls
The biggest challenge in the U18/19 age group in girls club soccer during this stage of the season is a roster balance. Many of the top teams look considerably different from six months ago. As players graduate early and head off to college, top clubs have to balance who to promote to the older team. Do you pull from the younger team? Do you pull from another team at the club? Or do you shrink the roster and hope you have enough depth for the playoff run?
This has been the challenge for various teams over the last month as some regions return from high school play and focus on the league campaign for the precious few playoff spots.
The TopDrawerSoccer TeamRank, presented by Soccer Masters, takes a new look at the U18/19, U17, and U16 age groups in girls club soccer for the new update in the May edition to the club soccer team rankings.
U18/19
Solar only picked up one win from their last three games and drops from the top spot to No. 4 in the TeamRank update. So Cal Blues takes over the top spot. Blues wrapped up their regular season campaign with lopsided victories over Heat FC and Eagles SC last weekend. Blues scored 33 goals in their final four games of the season and only conceded twice. So Cal Blues finished the ECNL regular season with a 13-0-0 record and sits in the top spot in the Champions League standings.
PDA Blue is the No. 2 team in the TeamRankings update. PDA is also 13-0 on the season. PDA still has games against Match Fit Academy, FC Bucks, and Bethesda SC left on the schedule.
FC Bay Area moves into the No. 3 spot in the TeamRankings update, the top spot for a Girls Academy team. FC Bay Area 02/03 is predominantly an 04 team, but they play up an age group so there has not been much turnover in the roster this season. FCBA is 8-0 on the season and takes on Clovis Crossfire on Saturday.

U17
Between the two main national leagues, there is only one 04 team that has played more than 10 games yet to suffer a defeat this season, Richmond United (10-0-3). The Virginia club takes over the top spot in the rankings after some surprising results elsewhere in the country. Solar SC (18-1-1), the former No. 1 team, dropped a 0-1 result to DKSC earlier this month. It was the first loss of the season for Solar, which moves to No. 2 in the rankings update. Solar still has games against Challenge SC, AHFC, Tulsa SC, and FC Dallas left on the schedule.
TSJ FC Virginia 04 GA is the top team from the Girls Academy. FC Virginia is 15-1-2 on the season with 81 goals scored and only eight goals conceded.

Real Colorado - National wrapped up their ECNL regular season campaign in April with wins over the Utah clubs. Real Colorado finished the season with a 16-0 record and eyes a chance at a national championship this summer.
PDA Blue (11-0-0) is chasing the mark that Real Colorado already put out there. PDA has scored 22 goals and only conceded two in four games since the start of May.
